The Neighbourhood Parks Program is a four-year program aimed at enhancing our community's neighbourhood parks. The $6.1 million program is funded by the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant (WSIG) program.

Over the course of this program, Council will upgrade 16 parks across the four Wards of the Blue Mountains. In each Ward, there will be four parks upgraded - one each year, over four years.

The parks to be upgraded in 2024 are: Medlow Park, Medlow Bath; Golden Horizons, Hazelbrook; and Thomas Park, Blaxland.

Buttenshaw Park – Stage 2, in Faulconbridge is also part of this program, however this will be focused on a new junior bike track, based on previous community consultation. Council will release the exciting details of this project separately.

To begin design on the upgrades at Medlow Park, Golden Horizons, and Thomas Park, we want to hear from you!

While each park’s upgrade is subject to considerations due to budget, heritage and environmental considerations, your feedback will help us understand how our parks are used, how you would like to use them, and what you would like included in your parks.

It's important to remember that Council can't provide everything in any one neighbourhood park. We aim to provide a little bit of everything across the neighbourhood parks in each ward. When you think about what you would like in any park, please also consider what is already available in the other parks around you.

We have created an interactive survey for each park, where you get to choose what you'd like in your parks. Each of the choices has a number of points assigned to it, and each park has 100 points to 'spend', allowing you to prioritise what's important to you, within the funding budget.

These first surveys cover the parks that will be upgraded in 2024.

Later consultation will cover the parks being upgraded in 2025, 2026 and 2027.

It's easy and fun to use - and your suggestions will help shape the future of our parks.

Your feedback will directly inform the design process for each park, ensuring that they reflect the needs and desires of our vibrant community.

Let's work together to create parks that we can all enjoy and be proud of!
