Local Planning Panel Community Representatives Expressions of Interest

Blue Mountains City Council is seeking expressions of interest from local community representatives to join the Local Planning Panel (LPP).

LPPs are mandatory for all councils in NSW. The primary function of the LPP is to determine development applications that meet thresholds as determined by the NSW Government. Other functions include providing advice to Council on planning proposals and other planning or development matters referred to the panel.

The panel is made up of a chairperson and 2 alternate chairs, fifteen expert panel members and at least five community representatives. Each monthly meeting consists of a chairperson, two experts with relevant experience depending on the items on the agenda and one community representative will sit on each meeting.

Your role as an LPP member is a part-time role starting in March 2024. Meetings will be held on a monthly basis and, if nominated as the community representative for that meeting, you will be expected to contribute constructively to panel discussions. Membership of the panel is for up to three years. You will be paid if appointed to the panel for the monthly meeting in accordance to the rates set by the NSW Minister for Planning and Public Spaces.

Mayors, councillors, property developers and real estate agents are not eligible to apply.
