Thank you for your interest in this project. This consultation is now over and the final document can be accessed online at www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au

The Citywide Parking Strategic Plan has been finalised and is being presented to Council for adoption at the 27 March 2018 Council meeting. The final Plan, amended appendices, 27 March Council Report and Responses to Consultation received are located in the document library to the right of this page.

The supply and management of vehicle parking is an important issue for Blue Mountains City Council (BMCC), Blue Mountains businesses and the wider community. There are competing demands for parking spaces between commuters, employees, shoppers and increasing numbers of visitors.

Using data collected over time, the draft Citywide Parking Strategic Plan looks at parking trends across the city, and issues such as commuter parking, town and village centre parking and visitor destinations. It discusses how technology may change future parking needs and the way we manage parking.

The draft Plan makes recommendations for the City more generally, and also for individual towns and villages and tourism destinations- providing a framework to guide parking infrastructure over the next 10-15 years. It aims to strike a balance between current and future parking needs, business and resident needs and protecting the village character and natural environment of the Blue Mountains.

The focus is on improving the management of existing parking areas, including improving the turnover of vehicles. A key recommendation is to prepare Parking Precinct Plans for locations that are under parking pressure- investigating options such as electronic sensor parking and changes to time restrictions.

Residents and businesses are invited to view the draft Citywide Parking Strategic Plan in the 'Document Library' on the right-hand side of this page. Supporting documents include detailed assessments of parking in towns and villages (available separately) and the visitor destinations document.

Submissions closed 12 January 2018.
