Consultation has concluded

Like many councils in New South Wales, Blue Mountains City Council is facing significant challenges in continuing to provide the current level of services, facilities and infrastructure across the 27 towns and villages that make up our City. This is primarily due to the fact that costs have been increasing faster than the ability of the Council to generate revenue.

Council proposes to seek a Special Variation to rates above the limit set by the State Government (which is 2.6% next year). This will enable the Council to increase much needed funding for the upgrading of ageing facilities and infrastructure across the 27 towns and villages that make up our City. The additional funds will also be used to increase our emergency and bushfire management response.

The proposed Special Variation to rates is a part of the Council’s response to resourcing the Sustainable Blue Mountains 2025. For more information on this and other draft Plans that are also on public exhibition see www.bluemountainshaveyoursay.com.au/integrated-planning-for-services or see link at the top right of this page.
