Stanley Bignell was involved in community initiatives whose contributions to the Blue Mountains included establishing the Blue Mountains Sailing Club at Wentworth Falls Lake, initiating lake upgrades and teaching boat building and sailing to youth. Further contributions incluided initiating sporting facilities and opportunities at Gloria Park, for youth at Hazelbrook. Stanley served in the RAAF in World War II, spending a year as a prisoner of war, and his premature passing in 1978 was triggered by injuries sustained whilst fighting in WW 2.

The naming proposal is for the formed pathway system, initially from Sinclair Crescent to Waratah Road in the short term, and will incorporate future Lake loop track upgrades including the planned board walk.

As part of Council's Naming Policy, this proposal will be on public exhibition until 29 May 2015. All feedback recieved during the exhibition will be presented in a report to the Council for a decision on whether to endorse the name. If endorsed, the proposal will then be forwarded to the Geographic Names Board for review.
