Exhibition of Draft Cemetery Policies document

This consultation has concluded.

Council has developed the draft Cemetery Policies document, which has been on public exhibtion for comment.

Council Meeting: This policy will be presented to the Council Meeting of Tuesday 25 March 2014 with the recommendation for adoption. The Business Paper for this meeting can be viewed from Councils Website at www.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/yourcouncil/councilmeetings . The meeting will commence at 7pm and you are welcome to attend. If you wish to address the meeting, either for or against the adoption of the Draft Cemeteries Policy document, you must register your intentions prior to the commencement of the meeting.

The revised Draft Cemetery Policies document, and other supporting documents, can be found in the library on the right hand side of this page. Further background information can also be found in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

The draft Cemeteries Policy provides guidance on management issues which have required addressing including;

  • Burial placements and licences. This includes direction for new burials to be placed next to existing ones, and placing a 25 year limit to unused licences, with the option for renewal.
  • Scattering of Ashes.
  • Monumental work in cemeteries.
  • Maintenance of Significant Historic Graves.
